Fall Feelings: Sweaters, Memories, and Finding Comfort

As the fall season arrives — with all its new clothes, routines, and rhythms — I’m reminded how much comfort we find in the familiar. But even in the midst of cute sweaters and school days, life’s deeper moments tug at our hearts. I know I should be telling you all about the cute, new Fall merchandise that's pouring in right now. But today my heart is heavy.
I would be lying to you if I told you I knew before yesterday who Charlie Kirk was, because I didn't. Maybe you're familiar, maybe not. What I found out was he was a driven young man who desperately seeking change in the world. He lost his life fighting for what was right trying to make a better world for his children as well as ours. How often do we sit and talk about how we think "Things should be different"!?!? He tried to make that happen in our world.
My emotions are all tangled at the moment. I was reflecting on the fact we would be remembering 9/11 when this tragedy struck. I was already in all the feels from thinking back to where I was and what I was doing on 9/11/2001. I know you remember where you were. I think we all do. It was something we all watched unfold in shock and awe. It was something that made us linger a little longer when we hugged our family or put our kids to bed that night. We realized in that moment just how fragile life is. We realized we aren't promised tomorrow even though we plan as if nothing out of the ordinary is going to happen. Until it does.
Sometimes the rug gets pulled out from under us — a job lost, a child struggling, a diagnosis we didn’t see coming. We pray, we hope, we believe… and sometimes we still find ourselves standing at a graveside wondering why.
While I have no answers as to why I can tell you my friend, as I always told my children growing up- God will never waste your pain!! He sees it. He knows it. He cares about the hurt you are feeling. In these moments we must cling to Him. He cares for us. He wants to comfort us. He even goes so far as to bottle up every single tear.
We don't understand it all. I know we all just want things to go back to the way they were. But there is a strange and sacred joy in being able to comfort others — because we’ve been through it. Friend, if you're hurting today, I’m sending you love, prayers, and the biggest virtual hug. Let’s be gentle with each other.
If you’re in a space where you're looking for something lighthearted or just a bit of joy, we’ve added some sweet new fall pieces to the shop. Little moments of beauty, even in heavy times, still matter.
Thanks for being here. Thanks for reading. And no matter what season you're in right now — I’m truly grateful to walk a little of the journey with you.
With love, gratitude and hugs,
Ann Marie
